In anticipation of the CrossFit Games, we interviewed a first-time Games qualifier and one of our JUNK Athletes Emma Cary. Since most of us already know Emma's fitness journey (but if not, that's cool, you can check it out here), we thought we'd keep the questions more on-brand for the JUNK name, which means a little weird. Yeah, we got weird - don't shame us. Just grab your favorite potatoes and check in on Emma with us!
What is your favorite main CrossFit workout?
I love DT! I love barbell cycling, and even more importantly I love having the opportunity to honor a hero. Workouts like this allow you to take risks and trust your body. There’s no room for doubt, you just have to GO, which is so much fun!
What's your personal mantra?
I want this the most. It’s all about who wants it the most and I will forever believe that is me. I will suffer the most, I will fail the most, but I will get back up the most, and that is why am will succeed.
If you were a potato, what way would you like to be cooked?
I would want to be fire roasted potatoes! Adversity is hot and hard and painful to go through, but it can always produce something better.
If you were a WWE wrestler what would your walkout song be?
I Believe That We Will Win by Pitbull. I’ve always had this belief that remains strong no matter what adversity I face.
If there were a movie made about your life who would you want to play you?
I would want to play myself! I think this would be a very fun opportunity. I know I wouldn’t do it perfectly, but that describes life so well. I believe in being proud of your flaws and uniqueness!
If you could have a superpower, what would it be and why?
I would want to be able to read minds. It would be an awesome competitive advantage to know a competitor’s strategy and know every single doubt they have. When there is “blood in the water”, I have extra fire.
